Our Story

In 2005 God began to tug on Dan’s heart. Dan had invested his life in the building trades, as a laborer, carpenter, project foreman, construction management, and eventually becoming a home builder and remodeler in upstate New York. In the early 2000’s, Dan felt an increasingly urgent desire to pursue something greater than monetary value. After stints serving with a homeless shelter, leading builds for Habitat for Humanity, and working with the immigrant population amongst many other things, Dan attended a cocktail party in Vermont that changed the trajectory of his life. The party’s host gave him an email address to a Haitian Pastor that had founded a mission twenty-six years prior. On his first trip to Haiti, Dan was at peace in many ways, this was a good fit. As the next few years progressed so did the frequency, duration, and depth of purpose of his service and mission.

Madel was born in the Philippine islands half way around the world from the US. Madel grew up and was educated in the Philippines becoming a Physical Education Instructor at the high school and university level. She also learned a trade as a seamstress from vocational school and her mother. Madel’s desire was always to become a US citizen paving the way for a more opportune life for her children and family. Madel was able to immigrate to the US in the mid-nineties. When her two children were older, Madel returned to the education field as a one on one aide for challenged children.

One evening as Dan sat with Pastor Pierre on a rooftop in Haiti under the magnificent winter sky, he lamented that one thing in life had escaped him; a loving relationship and marriage to a good woman. Dan told pastor, “ I don’t believe I will ever find her”. After a long silence the pastor replied; “Oh, brother Dan you will never find her, you are going about this the wrong way. I want you to go home and everyday get on your knees and pray for her. And… If it is God’s will; He will introduce you to her.” And so… that is what he did, for two years. God in His timing answered those prayers and Dan and Madel were married in January 2016, with the Haitian pastor co-officiating the wedding!

In 2018 Dan and Madel Beck were called into partnership with the ministry at La Croix, Haiti. Dan and Madel are members of Crosspoint Church in Whitesboro, NY. God made clear His invitation for them to join in His purpose at La Croix. God is using Dan’s skills in construction management, as a home builder, and business as well as Madel’s skills as a teacher and seamstress. God has equipped them to accomplish His purpose by leading the construction and administration of the professional Technical School at LaCroix, Haiti; an international learning environment. Through the mission of this school opportunities are created for its graduates, relationships are built, and discipleship transforms lives to understand the love and salvation found only in Christ and how God has a unique purpose for each of our lives. Opportunities include job placement, small business creation, micro-financing, and industry.
